My how fast they grow up. Here's Max at eight weeks old, learning the skills he needs to be an adult. It's been two years since then and we're still working on those skills. Growing up and being an adult are sometimes two different things. It's an ongoing process--one that's full of ups and downs and starts and restarts. My hope for Max is that he never fully becomes a serious adult. I love the silliness, the rebellion, the bravery of youth. Couple that with Max trailing a flock of sheep--attending to his adult business is a joy to partner with. I guess you can be a kid and an adult at the same time. As a writer of middle grade literature, it's something to aim for..
